The primary objective of this application is to rapidly identify and select all 40 randomly distributed tiles, numbered from 1 to 40, through consecutive taps starting from tile number 1 and ending at tile number 40. The performance outcomes are influenced by factors such as age and other personal parameters. To facilitate comprehensive diagnostics, the app integrates with the HealthKit framework to access data including birthdate, gender, and daily step count. Additionally, it can optionally request camera access to monitor eye-gaze tracking. The anonymized data collected during testing are uploaded to cloud storage for further analysis, aiding in the enhancement of classification algorithms and diagnostic accuracy.
This approach serves as an adaptation of the traditional Schulte table method (S. A. Rimskij, R. R. Rimskaja, Almanac of Psychological Tests, 3rd Edition, KSP, 1996, pp. 117–118), aimed at improving mental clarity, attention span, and visual perception. The application has been recognized as a winner in the Polpharma Scientific Foundation competition for innovative mobile techniques in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of civilization-related diseases.
Following the completion of the task—specifically after tapping the 40th tile—the app displays current and past scores. A horizontal bar at the bottom indicates the most recent result numerically and visually. The direction of this score bar reflects overall progress (extending to the right from a central white line signifies improvement) or regression relative to previous attempts. The central white line represents the average score derived from earlier tests conducted by the user. The color coding of the bar indicates the preliminary diagnostic level: green for favorable results, yellow indicating moderate performance, and red suggesting a need for alertness increase. Additionally, a thin red line marks the highest score achieved to date. These scoring metrics are continuously refined; future updates aim to incorporate more nuanced analyses based on clinical trial data.
In version 1.0, the scoring algorithm considers factors such as overall test duration alongside user-specific parameters like age and gender (if available). Results are presented as a colored horizontal bar—green, yellow, or red—originating from the middle of the screen and extending rightward (indicating better performance) or leftward (indicating poorer results). Achieving a quick completion time that yields a green indicator suggests effective focus and perceptual acuity. A yellow bar signifies acceptable but improvable performance; users are encouraged to respond more swiftly. Conversely, a red bar indicates diminished alertness or focus, recommending increased mental engagement for optimal results.
